Cooking the perfect steak
This recipe is a template to take with you to make the perfect steak.
RECIPE:
- 1 large steak
- Salt and fresh ground pepper
- 3 sprigs fresh thyme
- Fresh garlic
- 1 tablespoon unsalted butter (Kerigold!)
Instructions:
1. Let your steak/meat sit out to room temperature! This will allow even cooking.
2. Prepare your cast-iron pan skillet to get hot by placing it on a medium-high heat.
3. Season the steak aggressively with kosher salt and FRESH ground pepper.
4. Place about 1 tablespoon of neutral tasting oil in your cast iron skillet.
5. Lay your seasoned steak away from you in the cast-iron and don’t touch it. Let it form a seasoned crust. 3-4 minutes on a medium heat.
4. Turn your steak after it has cooked for 3-4 minutes, and allow for another two minutes on the other side. You’ll want to cook it for longer if you prefer a medium-well to well done steak. After two minutes, turn the heat off and add butter, garlic, and fresh herbs. Baste your steak with the herbaceous liquid for around two minutes.
5. Remove from heat and let rest for 10-15 minutes. Serve after the steak has rested!
